About this Event

QUEERS AT THE TABLE LAUNCH x EAT OUT SUPPERCLUB

Take your seat at the table (or rather, your plate at the buffet) to celebrate the launch of Queers At The Table, an anthology of queer food and recipes edited by Dr Alex Ketchum and Megan J Elias. Eat Out Supperclub will be cooking recipes from the book alongside some of our own - it'll be a big ol' buffet spread (think heavy on finger foods) to give you a literal taste of queer food.

Another Story Bookshop will have copies of the book to purchase, the bar will be open all night for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and there will be plenty of time to gab with Alex, Megan, Sara, and Queers At The Table contributors.
Entry is free. Your ticket is to reserve your meal, which will be serve-yourself and buffet-style, unlimited while it lasts.
Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free friendly - for any other dietary restrictions, let us know and we will accommodate!

Pay it forward - donate towards helping fund a dinner ticket for those who want to come but are not able to pay the full price - if this is you, talk to us! Nobody turned away for lack of funds.

Who Are We?

Eat Out Supperclub - Founded and run by queer chef and writer, Sara Baron Goodman (she/her), Eat Out events are like intimate sapphic dinner parties - chaotic, messy sexy, and always joyful. Come alone or with friends and eat out in the company of other wlw and genderqueer folk, celebrating queerness, food, and all ways they intersect.

Dr Alex Ketchum - Alex D. Ketchum (she/her) is an associate professor at the Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies of McGill University. She is the co-editor (with Megan J. Elias) of Queers at the Table: An Illustrated Guide to Queer Food (with Recipes) and the author of several books, including Ingredients for Revolution: A History of American Feminist Restaurants, Cafes, and Coffeehouses (Concordia University Press).

Dr Megan J Elias - Megan J. Elias (they/them) is director of the Food Studies Program at Boston University and an associate professor. They are the co-editor (with Alex D. Ketchum of Queers at the Table: An Illustrated Guide to Queer Food (with Recipes) and the author of five books about food history, including Food on the Page: Cookbooks and American Culture (University of Pennsylvania Press). Elias teaches courses in food history and food and gender in Brooklyn, New York.

Another Story Bookshop - Another Story Bookshop is a progressive independent bookstore. Founder Sheila Koffman opened Another Story in 1987 with a clear vision: to promote books by and about diverse communities, and to radically support 2SLGBTQ and BIPOC writers.

Three Dollar Bill - a queer- owned and -operated bar in the heart of Parkdale, Three Dollar Bill's vision is to create a welcoming and safe space that serves as a hub for Toronto’s Queer community.
