Offering: Art Practices for Self-Harm
---
Finnick's Queerly Yours Offering:
My name is Finnick Appollo Brisson. He/Him. I’m a trans man applying to my master’s degrees working towards opening a non-for-profit for trans people in Hamilton.
I’m offering a space to get together and work on ways to get through self-harm urges using art when met with minority stress that comes from transphobia.
***CONTENT WARNING: We will be discussing experiences with self-harm thoughts, urges and behaviours ; please check in with yourself to determine whether this workshop may or may not be a good fit for you at this time. We understand that discussions about self-harm are really important in many people’s journeys, that being said, some folks may not have the capacity at this time for distress / triggers and/or may struggle to take care of themself within distress / triggers. We are happy to send resources and materials to folks who are interested in them and are unable to join the discussion on the day of the workshop.
We will have art supplies, snacks, resources, fidgets, distress tolerance tools and a therapist available available as needed. You are able to join and leave the conversation as needed. You will be encouraged to take care of yourself as needed.
----
Snacks and beverages will be available (included in the pricing), and art supplies / materials will all be made available (also included in the pricing).
If you have any accessibility questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out: [email protected] ; I'm happy to collab in whatever capacity I can to help make events more accessible to folks.
*Unfortunately the studio space is not fully accessible at this time, there are a set of stairs to enter the building. Additionally, the bathrooms are gendered, however, during the times of the Queerly Yours events we do cover up the signs to make them gender neutral.
Unfortunately, lot parking is not available anymore. Street parking is available outside of the studio, as well as around the corner off of Main St. Our sincerest apologies for the parking change up at this time :(
Disclaimer: Please note that this is NOT therapy and should not be considered a substitute for therapy. This is a non-clinical expressive arts practice offering / workshop focused on skill-building and community-building. If you are in crisis, please call or text 988 for immediate support, or reach out to your local crisis or warm line.
