About this Event

How well do you think you know Toronto’s queer spaces? Come join us for a night of fun, celebration, and maybe even a little bit of learning, as we kickstart Pride month with our first-ever trivia night! We’ll be taking a whirlwind tour through queer spaces in our city as we test your knowledge of 2SLGBTQIA+ history, symbolism and spaces, all while enjoying plenty of food, drinks, and amazing company.

Everyone is welcomed for this night of fun, laughter and learning—so whether you know a thing or two about Toronto’s built environment, 2SLGBTQIA+ history, or hoping to learn something new, this event is for you! After the trivia portion, celebrations will continue with more food, drinks and great conversation. See you there!

Venue Trivia: Cecil Community Centre

Did you know that the venue for this trivia-night is part of Toronto’s queer history? Built in 1880, this building has had many lives: a Protestant church, a synagogue, a Chinese catholic congregation, and Canada’s first gay community centre. The Community Homophile Association of Toronto (CHAT) began using the building in 1971 and it became the hub of many of the city’s 2SLGBTQIA+ events between 1971 and 1973. This building housed CHAT’s offices, events, counselling phone lines, drop-in sessions and much more. It was also the site of panel discussions, art exhibits and perhaps most famously the departure point for Toronto’s first gay pride march in 1972.
