Are you directionally challenged? Do you find yourself needing to use your phone directions for even simple trips? Do you just enjoy exploring and appreciating street art? In a quick lesson you will learn how to understand street signs, figure out your heading with and without a compass, and use logical thinking to help build your own mental maps using roads, landmarks, and your own memory. After which, you'll get to test your new skills with a fun street art scavenger hunt around the downtown Lansing area! We'll provide maps and compasses, as well as any support needed during the hunt. I highly recommend bringing water and comfortable walking shoes.Details:
Saturday, October 5th, 1-4pm
Rain Date: Saturday, October 19th, 1-4pm

We'll begin and end at the Salus Center, though the workshop will include a scavenger hunt around Lansing on foot for about 1.5 - 2 hours.
About Your Troop Leader:
Hello future scouts, I'm Clemintine Nyuon (she/her) and I'm so excited to lead my first Queer Scouts workshop this year! A little about me, I'm a neurodivergent black and queer transwoman who grew up right here in Lansing and graduated from Waverly High School. I'm currently working in the Education system as a Paraeducator, which gives me lots of experience working with neurodivergent folks and being flexible with different learning styles. I can't wait to help create a fun, comfortable, and affirming scout experience with you all.
What is Queer Scouts?
Queer Scouts is a series of free, all ages workshops for learning craft and outdoors skills in an inclusive environment that centers 2SLGBTQIA+ folks. Anyone is welcome, though we ask that any kids are accompanied by a trusted adult. All supplies are included, and folks are welcome at any skill level. Attendees will receive a button or "badge" for learning their new skill, and folks are welcome to attend as many (or few!) workshops as they're interested in.
