Queer perspectives on Tove Jansson's life and art How did Tove Jansson address issues of gender and sexuality in her art, and what was it like to live openly in a same-sex relationship during a time when it was prohibited by law in Finland? What are the gender roles in Moominvalley and what does the name Mymble have to do with sex? Have questions about the queer in Tove Jansson's life and art always been aired openly, or has there been a change in recent years? Kira Schroeder, Head of Content at Moomin Characters, talks and shows images from Tove Jansson's life and production. The program is free of charge. Tove Jansson is without a doubt one of the best Finnish artists of all time and also the most widely read Finnish author abroad. Her work is of immeasurable value because of the success she made as a writer, artist and cartoonist. She was a multi-talented artist who is mostly remembered as the creator of the Moomins. The Moomin books have been translated into over sixty languages.
In addition to the Moomin books and comics, Tove Jansson also received recognition for her short stories and novels as well as for her pictoral art.

Kira Schroeder is the Head of Content at Moomin Characters. Together with her colleagues, she creates content for the websites moomin.com and tovejansson.com and social media, and helps Moomin licensees around the world keep Tove Jansson's legacy alive through exhibitions, books, stage productions, films, etc. Schroeder is a former journalist who ran her own production company and also worked at the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation Yle in foreign and cultural journalism. She has also worked as the communications manager for Finland's largest international film festival, Love and Anarchy.
