Queer Moms of Birmingham exists to support and foster connections between LGBTQ parents who identify as moms. Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 6pm-7:30pm. Our monthly meetings are hosted at the Magic City Wellness Center (3220 5th Avenue South, Suite #100 -- located inside the UAB Medicine building on the corner of 5th Avenue South and 32nd Street South).What do the meetings look like?
Each month, we gather at 6pm for about 10 minutes of casual conversation. We spend the remainder of our time together providing supportive conversation around topics that are important to who we are as gay moms.
We do have some ground rules for each meeting:
-Confidentiality: What is said in our group, stays in our group.
-Respect: We respect everyone, regardless of our differences.
-Keep an open mind: We’re all learning.
-Assume good intentions/Give each other the benefit of the doubt: They're doing the best they can, with the information they have.
Who attends the monthly meetings?
All LGBTQ parents who identify as moms are welcome! Many of us have children from a previous marriage, and there are gay moms who have children through adoption. We represent a wide cross-section of the Birmingham Metro area. We would love for you to join our conversation!
