Queer in Canton is thrilled to announce our brand-new Book Club! Every month, we’ll meet at the Queer in Canton Community Center - 2663 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton, OH 44709 - for a lively discussion on today's most intriguing books and topics ranging from self-help to queer books. This is 18 and older only. 📚📖📕We're kicking things off in January with "The Perfectionist's Guide to Losing Control: A Path to Peace and Power" by Katherine Morgan Schafler. What is bookclub?
A group of people read a book, then gather around to discuss what they read. Asher will create a list of questions to help group discussion. These will be posted in both the messenger group chat and discord after discussion at QIC is held.
Do I have to finish the book?
No, but I'd prefer it if you did because then you'd have more to contribute.
Why 18+? What's with the trigger warnings?
Some of the books I selected are mature and some may need these warnings to know to avoid flashbacks.
What if I'm busy during *insert month here* and cannot read that month's book? Or what if a book sounds really boring and I don't want to read it?
You can absolutely skip certain month(s) for any reason. Read what you want to read. I'm not going to force you into anything you don't want to do. Consent is sexy here in book club.
Will the book be available for me to borrow?
No, because I don't know how many of you are interested yet. Please check the local library for the book, Libby, Hoopla, or Library Genesis! I tried to keep to books I knew were in the Stark Library system. Please don't buy any books unless you absolutely want to own a copy - Asher will share a copy. I do not want potential financial burden to keep you from participating.

That's what the discord is for. Or even the messenger group chat. If you need added to either of these, contact Asher.
