Queer & Well is a free monthly SF LGBT Center program offering where LGBTQ+ folks can explore different forms of care rooted in connection.
About this Event

Welcome to our LGBTQIA+ family expressive arts workshop, where we'll explore the powerful themes of planting seeds and rooting into our wholeness. This workshop is designed to create a safe and inclusive space for the queer community to explore their creativity, connect with nature, and cultivate a deeper sense of self-love and acceptance.

Using a variety of expressive arts techniques, including drawing, writing, movement, and meditation, we'll delve into the metaphor of planting seeds as a way to explore our own personal growth and transformation. We'll explore what it means to root into our true selves, connect with our inner wisdom, and manifest our deepest desires.

Through this process, we'll tap into our own unique creativity and explore our own personal narratives. We'll discover new ways to express ourselves, connect with others, and find inspiration in the natural world around us. With the support of our facilitators and fellow participants, we'll cultivate a sense of community and build a network of support to help us continue our own personal growth long after the workshop is over.

This workshop is for anyone who is looking to deepen their connection with themselves and others, and who is interested in exploring the intersection of queer identity and creative expression. No prior artistic experience is necessary - all you need is an open mind and a willingness to explore.

Join us for this transformative experience and discover what it means to plant seeds of love, connection, and growth in your own life. We can't wait to see you there!

I am a queer mom, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I love running groups and offering the expressive arts fused with mindfulness. I practice on the stolen homelands of the Ramaytush Ohlone (colonized as San Francisco). Training in the expressive arts, mindfulness, and embodied social justice have been my focus for the last half decade.

I grew up in the U.S. South, attended undergrad there, got a degree in Theater Arts with a minor in Education. After graduation, I lived in New York City, teaching theater in four of the five boroughs. I did a little acting along the way. After a decade of teaching and parent meetings that seemed a lot like therapy, I turned to a career in psychology (at the same time becoming a parent).

I have worked with families, teens, and many individual folks helping them heal their intimate relationships (with self and others). I use client-centered techniques, meaning you are your best source of wisdom, not me. The power of the arts, all of the arts, are my life's course. I find daily journaling, meditating, or dancing to be vital, especially these last years. With each day I aim to explore and uncover my privileges as an able-bodied white woman who grew up with access to education and middle-class background. I have done a good bit of unpacking my privilege and I will keep learning/unlearning.
