What's a Wassail? It's the ancient tradition of singing to and blessing apple trees at the beginning of Spring, waking them from their winter slumber and asking for a good harvest for the year ahead.
There are 2 orchards in Queens Park - at the flagpole, and on the slope near the ponds. We will be meeting from midday on Saturday 8th February at the Victoria Road gates of Queen's Park, before processing up to the orchards at about 12.15
We invite you join us for this year's Wassail:
Dress in colourful costume
Bring things to make a BIG NOISE with (drums, pans and wooden spoons, etc...). There will be choir singing and morris dancing
Details of the songs we will be singing can be found here https://harrycampbell.weebly.com/wassail-2025.html
We will also have a special contribution from a local Jewish group to mark the tree festival of Tu BiShvat, the "New Year for Trees"
