Quatuor Avena is a saxophone quartet formed in Strasbourg in 2016, featuring musicians from South Africa, France, Italy, and Japan. They have performed internationally and at prestigious festivals in France, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Italy, and Japan.
Their repertoire includes themed concerts such as Around the World in 80 Minutes and Trajectories, showcasing a mix of classical, contemporary, and world music. In 2023, they released their debut album Massar. The group has received several awards, including first prizes at international competitions in France and Japan.
The quartet members - Nicolas Allard (soprano saxophone), Fabio Cesare (alto saxophone), Sumika Tsujimoto (tenor saxophone), and Adam Campbell (baritone saxophone) - each have distinguished careers as performers, educators, and collaborators. Their passion for cultural fusion and innovation defines their unique artistic identity.
