Victoria’s annual concert series and chamber music festival, Quartet Fest West, runs from June 26-July 8 on the UVic campus. QFW 2023 brings together two of Canada's most beloved string quartets, long-time friends and colleagues, the Lafayette and Penderecki Quartets. Also performing and giving masterclasses is UVic's alumni quartet, Cuarteto Bellas Artes (formerly the Chroma Quartet). This will be the last year with the Lafayette String Quartet before they retire as an ensemble.
Concerts, masterclasses and workshops will be open to the public to attend.
CONCERT SCHEDULE:
June 29 | 7 PM MOZART AND MOVIE NIGHT
Violist Yariv Aloni joins the Lafayette String Quartet in Mozart’s Viola Quintet in G minor, K. 516. You’ll also have to opportunity to view the premiere screening of John Bolton’s new film “Singing Through Generations.” This short film features the LSQ performing "Singing Through Generations," co-composed by Nicole Mandryk and Leila Lustig.
