Day 2 - ReconstructionEvery year, the Quicksilver Running Club donates proceeds from our races to local charities that support our club’s mission. This year, one of those recipients is the Santa Clara County Parks department - the very one that manages Almaden Quicksilver Park, amongst many others. Instead of just giving the SCCP a donation for their slush fund, we are donating directly to a fund dedicated to rebuilding the fence around the perimeter of the Hidalgo Cemetery. If you’ve run to the cemetery lately, you’ve surely seen the sorry state of disrepair that the fence is in now. The QRC will be paying for the raw materials, and supplying as much volunteer labor as we can recruit. The park rangers will be on hand with the appropriate tools and instruction, so please don’t feel that you might not be qualified. We are currently aiming to begin operations on Saturday, October 5th, and Sunday, October 6th. The first day will be mostly demolition, with remaining day(s) dedicated to building and painting a new fence. Work will begin at 8:45 AM on both days, meeting at the cemetery, so please leave yourself time to get there. Work will likely proceed until 4 or 5:00 PM, but if you can’t stay that long, then you are welcome to join us for as much time as you can. Any and all help will be welcome!
If you’re interested in coming out, then please RSVP to QRC’s Trail Liaison, Jim Yates, by emailing him at [email protected].
