About this Event
Aoife Ní Bhriain and Cormac McCarthy come together for a performance celebrating their acclaimed debut duo album Cosán Casta. The album’s title - meaning “twisting path” -reflects the journeys of two genre-defying musicians whose roots lie in Irish traditional and classical music. Ní Bhriain, a violinist with deep ties to both Bach and the Irish fiddle tradition, and McCarthy, a pianist, composer, and arranger whose path led through jazz, have created a sound world uniquely their own. Drawing on influences from Tommie Potts to Locatelli, and from the Joyce manuscripts to their own compositions, their music is a rich and exploratory conversation between traditions.
