About this Event
Revive your spirits and refresh your body with three 30 minute sessions of beginner Qigong on three consecutive Thursday afternoons, in the Glade Run Adventures Greenhouse. January 29, February 5, and February 12, 3:45-4:15 pm.
Qigong consists of simple flowing repeated motions paired with mindful breathing.
Many of the moves can be done even when other exercises are too taxing, and many can be adapted to a seated position. Qigong does not use held poses like yoga, and is not a series of motions like tai chi, but is similar to both. Many find that it leads to a sense of calm groundedness and ease of movement, and can improve strength, balance, and flexibility.
If the winter gray has got you down, the bright warmth and greenery of the greenhouse will lift your spirits, while the calming physical motions soothe your mind and body.
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that allow for easy movement.
Great for all ages! Qigong has been found to be especially beneficial for older adults. Young children can usually manage the motions but may lose focus quickly. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
A minimum of 7 registrations by January 22 is required in order for this event series to be held.
Late registrations (within one week of the event) can be made as long as the event has met the minimum number of participants.
Maximum number of participants is 12 due to space limitations in the greenhouse.
