About this Event
2 Experienced Naturalists, Alison Dixon, Senior Planner for Environment & Energy Program of the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission, and Mitch McCue, Q-MoB resident naturalist, will lead us on 2 different hikes of ecologically significant & beautiful trails:
1) Hare Group: Bartholomew's Cobble is a gently sloping 1000 foot tall hill that overlooks the entire Southern Housatonic River Valley and has spectacular views of 3 states and gives us one of the most panaromic views of the widest part of the Housatonic Riverine Habitat;
2) Turtle Group: Walk along gravel road to unique chimney rocks and then along the housatonic river, where we will learn about the effects of climate change, gravel road runoff, climate change flooding, invasives, agriculture. & other impacts on the still very beautiful Riverine Habitat.
This hike is part of a series of easy hikes and bike rides funded by the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission that will explore some of the most beautiful but climate-change affected eco-systems in the Berkshires, and help us appreciate the many factors that are providing resiliency to these waterfalls and water ways, but also threatening them.
