About this Event
Join queer men from all over the region for this relatively easy hike to one of the most spectacular locations in all of the Berkshires featuring views of Mt. Greylock and the surrounding mountains, a large grove of white birch trees, a river gorge & waterfalls, streams, woodlands, and meadows. The trails can be muddy, snowy, and/or icy at this time of year.
We will be meeting at the new
Greylock Glen Outdoor Center
135 Gould Road,
Adams, MA
WHAT TO BRING:
- $10-$20 Tax-Deductible Donation, in cash, or check made out to "Q-MoB Inc" (Q-MoB is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Public Charity in MA), or so you never have to donate at any regular Q-MoB event, or just come for FREE if this is the very 1st Q-MoB event you have ever attended
- Rain-gear & warm layers (fleece, sweater, wool cap, gloves)
- Appropriate footwear for hiking in potentially wet, muddy, snowy, rocky portions of the trail
- Snacks & Water
- Trekking poles if you need them (they make ascent & descent easier & are especially important in muddy, or snowy conditions or where the trail is uneven/rocky, or where there are ascents or descents that your knees may not like); you can borrow hiking poles from us if you need them & don't have them. In snowy or muddy conditions we also recommend cleats or snow shoes
- Queer male friends who may be looking for a more heart-felt & fun connection with other queer men.
WEATHER: On the morning of the hike, please check the weather for the hike location before you leave home so you know current conditions and how to dress for them. Please let us know your cell phone number when you register so we can text you 2 hours before the event should an unexpected weather threat arise that causes us to have to cancel or postpone the activity. We will only cancel the hike if there is above a 60% chance of a thunderstorm, ice storm, or the Mass DOT declares a travel emergency & discourages driving. We do hike in light rain or snow.
CARPOOLING/RIDE-SHARE: Carpooling is a great way to get to know other men, save money on gas, and help to reduce your carbon footprint and save the planet. If you need a ride or are open to carpooling, please indicate that when you are registering, & our ride coordinator will try to match you with people nearby who are interested in carpooling or offering rides.
OR : Please donate $10-$20 to help assure Q-MoB can continue to offer more than 20 activities & multiple resources & services to rural queer men all over the region. If you attend 2 or more Q-MoB events/month, please consider becoming a monthly sustaining donor member. By donating $25, $50, $75, or $100/month you can help to sustain the incredible variety of activities, services, and resources Q-MoB provides and assure all of these activities are accessible to men regardless of their age, income, or ability, and best of all you can avoid having to donate at each and every event you attend. Monthly Sustaining Members pay only once a month and then can attend all our activities with no further donation.
REACHING US DAY OF HIKE: If you have trouble finding us, will be late, or can't make it, please call/text Mitch 413-717-7816 or Bart at 503-734-6508.
