Abstrakt:
The lithic industries of the first farmers communities provide crucial insights into the social structures, specialisation, and exchange systems of Neolithic societies in Central and North-Western Europe. This study examines the production, distribution, and consumption of lithic artefacts, highlighting evidence of craft specialisation, regional variability in raw material procurement strategies or distinct learning networks. The organization of lithic production suggests the emergence of skilled individuals or workshops, pointing to an early division of labour within these communities. Furthermore, the circulation of raw materials reveals extensive exchange networks that extend across vast territories, facilitating inter-community interaction and resource redistribution. By combining technological analyses with spatial distribution patterns, this research sheds light on how lithic industries were embedded within broader socio-economic and cultural frameworks, reflecting the complex interplay of technology, society, and economy during the early Neolithic in Europe.
