The Best Life reminds us of the huge but “transparent” issue that we all have forgotten about. The madness and pain of war, locked in Roksolana’s teenage heart, make us both cry and laugh, and her sincerity about her family that remained in Ukraine makes us live through the fear together with her.The debut of young scriptwriter, Kateryna Rudiakova, 15 years old, who found courage and her voice to tell us about all of it from the first-person point of view.
The play is full of very sad things. Very sad. Through Roksolana`s character, Kateryna stands in front of us crying, screaming, suffering, and raging. Her family doesn`t look much better. Affected by the war, they became stronger than ever. But this once, though not real, just as the characters on stage they`re going to be honest to themselves, each other, and us.
It`s a sad play. But do you know what is even sadder? Real life. So Kateryna wants as many people as possible to this play and share at least the tiniest bit of the pain with her. If she shares it with others, will it help her escape from it in her broken heart?
