Pysanky Painting and Cocktails with Kathleen JohnsThursday, May 9: 6-9 pm
In this 3 hour evening workshop, students will learn the 2,000 year old Ukrainian ethnic tradition of Pysanky painting while relaxing with a beverage of their choice. Pysanky (pronounced pi-san-kee) are raw eggs that are decorated using an ancient wax-resistance method. Hear a bit about the history of this folk art and experience it for yourself! You will create 2 or 3 hand painted eggs to bring home and receive design and application handouts. Your first beverage is included. All supplies are provided; many are included in the class fee. An additional $10 supply and tool fee is due to the instructor at the beginning of class to cover dyes, beeswax and your own Kistka tool. $52 Members / 62 Non-Members

Kathleen is a renowned artist in this age old art form and as owner of Oval Art, she has created hundreds of designed eggs for art galleries and collectors across the country. Over the past 30 years, Kathleen has taught through schools and art workshops, exhibited in juried art shows nationally, and won awards for her one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork. She has donated eggs to several charitable organizations and has two goose egg designs in the White House permanent collection.
