About this Event
Help us deepen our roots and expand our impact in the SFV as we secure our own space!
Join us as we celebrate five transformative years of community, growth, and collective care at Black Thumb Farm. This special anniversary fundraiser marks a pivotal moment in our journey — as we work to secure a permanent home and deepen our roots in the San Fernando Valley.
Guests and donors will enjoy an afternoon filled with hands-on activities, light refreshments, and music, alongside an inspiring program featuring our founders, alumni, current participants, and a guest speaker. Together, we’ll reflect on the joy, labor, and impact that has shaped our work over the years.
Highlights include:
- Interactive activities that celebrate our land-based learning and community care
- A silent auction with local goods and experiences (closing at 5:00 PM)
- Inspiring stories and reflections from our community
- Opportunities to connect with staff and board members about becoming a donor and supporting our future
The formal program begins at 3:15 PM, with time before and after to enjoy the farm, explore activities, and connect with our growing network of supporters.
This event is part of our End-of-Year Fundraiser, where we aim to raise $15,000 to sustain and grow our programming — with a goal of $2,500 on the night of this celebration alone. Your presence and contribution help ensure that Black Thumb Farm continues to thrive as a sanctuary for land, learning, and liberation in the Valley.
About Black Thumb Farm
Vision Statement
We envision a deeply interconnected world where our youth and communities exercise communal sovereignty over land, seed, and food systems, and live with dignity, beauty, and joy.
Purpose Statement
Black Thumb Farm is a nonprofit urban farm and gathering space dedicated to empowering BIPOC youth and community through land based programming, growing culturally sustaining foods and flowers, and providing healing access to vital green space for the San Fernando Valley. We center BIPOC voices and experiences in our pursuit of land, seed, and food sovereignty. We work to be in right relation with Indigenous peoples as visitors on unceded Tataviam, Tongva, and Chumash lands.
