Purposeful Disorientation In contact improvisation it’s the direct physical connection, the contact with another dancer or several other dancers which continuously provides inspiration for a movement exploration.
It can also be experienced as an instinctive way of communicating with one another - ranging from stillness to highly energetic exchanges.
There are physical laws and forces that determine our dances’ flow and progression which we pay tribute to by practicing specific exercises that tackle gravity, inertia and momentum.
In this workshop, we’ll also train our alertness and availability in order to be more and more capable of trusting an energetic state of physical disorientation to be a creative rather than an overwhelming one.
To find balance in our dance will feel like finding balance in our lives.
We’ll have satisfying duets in the way we wish to have meaningful and fulfilling interactions with other human beings. The playful integration of movement and proximity entails truly shared moments of movement that will leave us more informed, centered, embodied, and enlivened than before.
