Domestic Violence Awareness Month: A Call to UnityOctober is designated as Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), a time to unite advocates nationwide in the effort to eliminate domestic violence. We invite you to participate in a meaningful YWCA event on October 23 to help spread awareness.
Join us in raising awareness about domestic violence by wearing purple on Purple Thursday, October 23, as a tribute to survivors and in memory of those who have tragically lost their lives. We encourage you to assemble with us on the front steps of the YWCA at 5:00 PM for our annual Community Photo.
*In the event of inclement weather, we will take our photo inside.
After the photo, please stay with us as we hold the YWCA Northcentral PA’s annual Vigil of Hope and Remembrance at 5:30 PM. This poignant event allows us to pause and honor those whose lives were lost too soon while also drawing attention to domestic violence in our community. Although we may not know every name, we stand together in their memory.
We remember those whose lives were cut short far too early, holding onto the hope that our collective commitment and determination will guide us toward a world free from domestic violence.
The YWCA is located at 815 W. Fourth Street, Williamsport, PA.
