About this Event
Dearly beloved,
July 27th marks the 40th anniversary of this film we call Purple Rain.
Purple Sunshine, a Prince tribute party in support of Sunshine House’s Mobile Overdose Prevention Site, returns this summer!
In 2016, Prince Rogers Nelson died from an accidental fentanyl overdose at his home in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
Today, the opioid epidemic continues to take lives around the world and our country is no exception. Between January and June 2022, an average of twenty people died each day in Canada due to opioid toxicity. In Manitoba, grassroots community organizations like Sunshine House develop and implement progressive and transformative initiatives like their MOPS (Mobile Overdose Prevention Site) to meet and help people where they’re at: on the streets and in the community.
On Saturday, July 27th, on the Little Brown Jug patio, we are celebrating the life and music of Prince, on what will be the 40th anniversary of his film Purple Rain. Net proceeds from the event will be donated to Sunshine House to help sustain their work in the community, particularly around harm reduction and overdose prevention.PURPLE SUNSHINEJuly 27th, 2024
