Punkfest presents Rob Taxpayer and Bushed Poetry, Human Toys, SoozeSaturday, November 16th at PFR Lounge. 7pm. 18+
The Tapayers are a long-running experimental DIY genre-bending punk band that started in Portland, Oregon in 2007. After an eight year hiatus, The Taxpayers have made a dream comeback in 2024, selling out shows all across the USA and seeing their spotify stats jump from 500k monthly listeners to 1mil. They will top off this stellar year with their first ever international tour, to Australia.
Their acclaimed 2012 concept album about the rise and fall of a fictional baseball player, "God, Forgive These Bastards" was widely considered one of the best albums of the year, it features the song "I Love You Like An Alcoholic" and was even turned into a musical stage production.
Their Australian tour will start with a Brisbane/Meanjin leg of Rob Taxpayer solo shows before the rest of the band catches up for the south-eastern corner.
Support from the awesome Bushed Poetry. Plus also announced, two more supports, French electro-rockabilly-punk duo Human Toys and opening the show is the wonderful Sooze.
Rob will be performing with some guest cameos including Elise (taxpayers) and Mark (dead maggies) on a few songs. Assuming we can find a double bass and cello. Say, anyone got a double bass or cello they can lend for the night?
