In this course, students will design and create wheel-thrown pieces that will then be cut/pierced through - creating pieces such as berry bowls, colanders, and luminaries/lamps! In this 4-week course, students will practice their skills in throwing thin and practice hand-control while piercing. Week 1: Discussion on thin walls and forms for piercing. Demonstration will be given on berry bowls and larger forms for colanders. Students will throw bowls - small and large!
Week 2: Discussion of luminaries and lamp forms. Demonstrations on forms with narrow necks and luminary forms. Students will throw the rest of class focusing on luminaries.
Week 3: Trimming, piercing, and handle making will be discussed and demonstrated. Students will have the rest of class to finish all pieces.
Week 4: Glazing
