About this Event
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Join your instructor, Tyler, to unleash your creativity and fall in love with punch needle. This distinctly North American art form, which evolved from 19th-century rug hooking, uses a unique tool to punch loops of yarn into woven cloth. During the workshop, you can create your own design or choose from a selection of botanical-inspired patterns crafted by Tyler. You'll learn the techniques required to make your own unique, one-of-a-kind piece of fiber art.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Hi there, I'm Tyler, a fiber artist based in Riverdale, MD. I have been passionate about bold colors and patterns since childhood, and it wasn't until a particularly stressful year working in the environmental nonprofit sector that I discovered my love for fiber arts. Seeking a new hobby to alleviate stress, I decided to learn how to embroider. It quickly became a form of art therapy for me as I found peace in the repetitive motions. I then took a Tapestry Weaving 101 course and fell in love with the craft. Now, more than a decade later, I create unique fiber art pieces using weaving, embroidery, punch needle, and tufting techniques. I thoughtfully mix textures, materials, and colors to bring warmth and happiness to any space. When I am not creating fiber art, I love to visit local coffee shops, spend time in nature with my husband, search for treasures at thrift shops, and dream of my next trip to the beach with my family.
