About this Event
The Xinka Indigenous People of Guatemala have denied consent for the restart of Canadian Pan American Silver’s Escobal mine in southern Guatemala. They are now calling for its permanent closure.
These leaders will speak to their concerns about the silver mine, threats and attacks against the Xinka People, the challenges they have faced during the seven-year court-ordered consultation process regarding the mine, and their hopes for the future.
The company and Canadian authorities must respect the Xinka People’s decision. Please join us as we welcome Marisol Guerra and Marta Muñoz and stand in solidarity with the Xinka as they defend their right to self-determination.
