Like the public television that gives them their name, Public Service Broadcasting have a mission: to inform, to educate, to entertain. The emphasis falls on the latter concept, which they put into practice by inviting the motorik movement, injecting rhythms into old archive recordings and conceptual narratives about the space race or the Berlin urban symphony. Theirs is the study of dance, the research of historical materials that they transport from the college to the dance floor, passing with flying colours. Cum laude.These math-rock nerds are based in London, although their history inevitably passes through Germany, as they demonstrated on Bright Magic, their latest album to date. A retro-futuristic love postcard to Berlin's modern history, it proves that every time they share their vintage telecommunications archive with the world, they tread a unique and tremendously special path. This same path will bring them to Barcelona and Madrid next autumn: they will perform at La Nau on 25th November and at Copérnico on 26th November.
