About this Event
Oscar Wilde's brilliant short story The Canterville Ghost was first published in 1887, and has been hugely popular every since. Join us this year for a public reading of this great classic in the atmospheric surroundings of Newhailes House.
The Otis family move to England and into an old mansion house, Canterville Chase, despite warnings from the owner that the house is haunted. Almost straight away strange events begin to occur, and Virginia, the eldest Otis daughter comes face to face with the ghost of Sir Simon de Canterville, a nobleman suspected of killing his wife several hundred years ago. Follow the Otis family and Sir Simon de Canterville in this humorous short tale.
