The Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation & Forestry is excited to announce plans for a public open house at the newly rehabilitated Schenck House. Be one of the first to see the new Erie County Parks history museum, housed in one of the oldest extant stone structures in the City of Buffalo, built in 1822. County Historian Doug Kohler and Erie County Park Rangers and staff will be on hand to provide information about the historic site and the $2 million restoration project.The open house will take place on Sunday, October 19, 10:00am-2:00pm. The Schenck House is located on the grounds of Grover Cleveland Golf Course, 3781 Main Street. No food or drink allowed inside the house.
The Department hopes to open the building up for regular public hours, as well as park ranger and historian-led tours/talks, in 2026. Learn more about the Schenck House at https://www3.erie.gov/parks/schenck-house-restoration.
