Public Meetings are scheduled at the Superior Public Library on October 8th, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM and again from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The purpose of these meetings is to discuss the one-way streets of Ogden Avenue, John Avenue, and Banks Avenue. The proposal being considered is the conversion of these one-way streets to two-way streets. I introduced this conversation and asked for the community meetings. Many scientific studies, of where this is actually done, over and over show that two way traffic slows down traffic and creates safer neighborhoods. If there's an on coming car (or a car could turn onto the road in front of you, driving towards you), you have to drive slower because the street isn't wide enough to pass at a high speed. Also, cars are regularly going the wrong direction now, but drivers have a reasonable expectation that they won't be, so making it two lanes will also make drivers more aware of oncoming traffic. Studies show over and over, that two way is safer and slower: https://ced.sog.unc.edu/2018/12/the-state-of-the-debate-two-way-street-conversion/#:~:text=Economic%20Development%20Potential-,A%20significant%20driver%20of%20the%20conversions%20are%20the%20promises%20of,to%20a%20two%2Dway%20pattern.
