About this Event

Join us for Public Health: Local Lessons for Global Outcomes, an engaging panel discussion exploring how local health interventions can inform global policy, strengthen crisis preparedness, and promote health justice.

We’re delighted to welcome Professor A.S.M. Amanullah, Ph.D, Vice-Chancellor, National University, Bangladesh , an internationally respected academic renowned for his pioneering work on HIV/AIDS education, migrant health, and health equity across South Asia.

Originally from Bangladesh, Professor Amanullah earned his BSS (Hons) and MSS degrees in Sociology from the University of Dhaka, graduating with First Class First honours, before completing a PhD in Medical Sociology at the University of New South Wales, Australia, in 2002.

Based in the Department of Sociology at the University of Dhaka, Professor Amanullah has led extensive research exploring the social dimensions of health, migration, and inequality, contributing significantly to global understanding of health equity and education.

Professor Amanullah will be joined by Professor Naomi Sharples (Chair), Professor Louise Ackers, Dr Anna Cooper-Ryan, and Dr Matt Wallace (School of Health & Society, The University of Salford).

Together, the panel will discuss the intersections of migration, health inequity, and community-based approaches that shape both local and global outcomes.
