Jason Ernst, Sergeant, Texas Ranger
Jason Ernst has over 19 years of law enforcement experience with the Texas Department of Public Safety and is currently a Texas Ranger with the Public Integrity Unit, assigned in Austin. In 2005, Ernst began his career as a State Trooper in the Texas Highway Patrol and was promoted to the Criminal Investigation Division working in the Electronic Surveillance Unit and the Special Investigation Section. Ernst conducted investigations involving homicide, officer-involved shootings, sexual assaults, felony theft, and public corruption. Ernst has been involved in a variety of state employee and state/federal financial crime investigations and previously served as a Task Force Officer with the Federal Bureau of Investigation-White Collar Crime Unit in Austin where he has received an FBI Letter of Recognition for his work. Ernst has investigated high-profile financial investigations including the Nate Paul and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton case and the Paola Gallego Elder Abuse-Financial Exploitation case. Ernst is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a BBA in Management and holds a Master Peace Officer’s Certification. Ernst is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and before joining the Rangers, Ernst was the coordinator of the Central Texas Fraud Investigators with over 125 active members.
