Join us for our 8th (!) edition of our Pubdub International Women's Day Special on Friday 1st March 2024. You can expect a wide range of tunes from across the spectrum - roots, reggae, steppers, dub, dancehall and jungle and everything in between!
We will be joined by Ms Fabulous (aka Lu Mason) who has loved reggae music with a passion since listening to ska in the 1960's, and living in London in the 1970's. She loves the harmonies, vocal styles and melodies of reggae, but also enjoys a good mash-up and dancehall tune. She'll take you on a journey through the decades; prepare for some oldies but goldies in the mix, as well as some more contemporary sounds.
Local selectress Baby Dangerous, who has been playing roots culture and dub on the free party scene and beyond will be joining us for her pubdub debut. A mother of 3 born in the 60s, she fell in love with reggae music when she heard the classic Silly Games by Janet Kay and has had the pleasure to work along some great female artists such as Christine Miller, Sister Aicha and Askala Selassie.
With support from Reaction cru sistas no.me and High Lassie who will be spinning tunes either side of our incredible guests.
International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.
IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific.
Fiver in, cheap bar, tasty booze, strictly nice vibes!
