As we speed towards spring, get yourself down to Pubdub this February 7th. Expect the finest dub, drum & bass, dancehall and reggae selection through the mighty Reaction Soundsystem. Only £3 in before 10pm, £5 after 10pm.
The Reaction Soundsystem Crew have been putting on dances around the Leeds area for nearly 20 years. The handbuilt Reaction Soundsystem is known throughout the dub scene for crystal clear, hifi quality sound and chest rattling heavyweight bass. The rig has travelled all over the country for festivals, free parties and community centres, with the Reaction DJs providing only positive vibes.
Special guest Maria grew up immersed within Bristol's rich soundsystem culture. Her passion and experience with bass music continues to grow with a vinyl collecion to match. Having played the likes of Subdub, Outlook Festival, the Mine, Shambala Festival and shared stages with Iration Steppas and David Rodigan, Maria plays all-vinyl sets of meditative roots and steppers through to uplifting 140s.
Lady R - a Selector from Middlesbrough who has been shaking foundations with her eclectic selections since the ripe old age of 16! She started out by playing real foundation reggae such as early ska, rocksteady and 70s dub but also loves to add some dumf dumf Steppas flavour and maybe even hiphop when the mood strikes her! You never know what's next with this one.
DJ Gremlyn - long time DJ and crew member will be raiding his vast music collection and bringing you a set made up of a variety of "versions". Dub, dancehall, reggae and d'n'b covers and remixes of tunes you'll recognise and some you won't. Expect the unexpected.
Pubdub launched in 2015, providing low entry-fee dances to Leeds community of bass lovers. It is run by a team of volunteers so proceeds are put back into community causes. The last few years have seen £500 donated to Camfed (Campaign for Female Education). Also £400 donated to support Hyde Park Unity Day.
