Join us for an afternoon of social pub singing with a Celtic theme- “chorus rich” songs led by a local singer and other song leaders (including you!) with everyone joining in for the chorus. We'll cover lyrical themes of land, sea, myth, legend, labour, trades, beer, whiskey, loss, love, war, peace, and much more. Genres covered - traditional Scottish, Welsh, Irish song and ballads. Bring a song, share a song! Let's sing!What is pub singing? A “Pub Sing” is traditionally at a Pub or “Public House”, as such it is “Public Sing”, a village choir of sorts. The format is to have one person sing who has memorized the song or reads from book/sheet and sings the verses with the group joining in for the choruses. Only the leader gets to use a memory aid if needed so as to encourage listening, sharing, and learning from each other and enjoying each others company. Worry not, no one knows all the songs, we are all learning together, and we encourage “chorus rich” songs so there is ample opportunity to sing even if you aren't leading. If a song leader leads a song you know, please only sing for the chorus unless the leader wants help with the verses. Note, this is a folk tradition, so some people sing the songs in differently. Pay attention to the leader if they are teaching/leading it in a new manner. See you there!
Doors open at 2:30pm, singing at 3pm, refreshments will be available for purchase.
