The PTPA is very pleased to present a special SENSORY FRIENDLY PERFORMANCE of our mainstage production of ANASTASIA: THE MUSICAL in cooperation with our friends at Collaborative Autism Movement!WHAT
Her past is a mystery. Her future is an adventure - ANASTASIA is a spectacular musical about discovering who you are and defining who you’re meant to be. From Tony winners Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, creators of such Broadway classics as Ragtime and Once On This Island, this dazzling show transports its audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family.
WHAT IS A SENSORY FRIENDLY PERFORMANCE?
Sensory Friendly Performances are designed for individuals who are neurodivergent or who have sensory processing challenges to enjoy a show with their friends and family in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Lighting and sound in these performances are modified to minimize potential to overstimulate and patrons are free to get up and move around without restriction - in addition the lights in the auditorium will remain on during sensory friendly performances and quiet areas, sensory aids, and other resources are available. People without sensory sensitivities are also welcome at these performances - it can be a good option for families with young children and first-time theatergoers! We are extremely thankful to our friends at COLLABORATIVE AUTISM MOVEMENT (www.collaborativeautismmovement.com) for their assistance in coordinating and making sensory friendly performances a reality—together we are all working to make our community and the arts open and inclusive for everyone!
