We are delighted to invite you to our talk on the Psychology of Effective Revision, Thursday 2 October at 6:30pm - 8:15pm. Refreshments will be available in Café 6 followed by a presentation in the PAC by Mr James Paterson (Head of Social Sciences) and Mr Ben Stephenson (Deputy Head Academic). This talk is aimed at students and parents who wish to understand how to revise more effectively, understand what psychological research suggests and gain practical tips. Whilst the talk will focus on GCSEs and A levels, all learners will gain something from this.
The talk will include:
Interactive demonstration of the memory’s natural ability.
Interactive instruction of advanced memorisation technique.
Explanation of how this works in practice with an A-level subject.
Delivery of material on how all of this fits in with the wider cognitive psychology underpinning beneficial study methods.
Research and real life examples of the most effective ways to revise.
Tips on how to cope with examination anxiety.
