Join us for our well-loved collaborative breathwork event between Oxford Psychedelic Society and Flow of Potential, inside the inspiring walls of St Mary & St John Church. Breathwork is a powerful way to expand your awareness and embark on a journey of self-exploration and healing. This event is incredibly popular and sells out, so please secure your tickets quickly!
Psychedelic: "causing unusually strong experiences of colour, sound, smell, taste, and touch, and other mental effects such as feelings of deep understanding." Control of the breath has been used by many ancient and indigenous cultures for healing and spiritual development. In the late 1960s - when research in psychotherapy using LSD and other psychedelics was banned - researchers turned to these traditional breath practices to create an altered state of consciousness in their patients. They were surprised to discover that the effects of breathwork could be as powerful as those from mind-altering substances. Now, an understanding of the power of the breath is spreading into modern life, led by figures such as Wim Hof and James Nestor.
Benefits of breathwork include:
Receive insights from your subconscious mind and inner world
Increase your creativity and expand your world view
Experience energetic flow in your body
Release stress, anxiety, tension and emotions that have been held in your body.
What will happen in the session?
We'll connect the group and drop into our body and breath
You’ll be introduced to the simple breath technique
You will be supported on your inner journey with the breath through spoken guidance and evocative music
There will be time at the end to share experiences
There should be no use of illegal substances during this event. *Please bring something to lie on (a yoga mat or blanket) and something to keep yourself warm like a blanket, as these will not be provided and the church can get cold!*
Your Facilitator – Karen Iles: flowofpotential.com
Karen discovered the healing possibility of Breathwork on a visit to Bali in 2015. It was a powerful experience for her mind, body and heart, and in 2017 she completed the Alchemy of Breath facilitator programme. She has also explored Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release Systems (BBTRS) and in 2021 she completed the second year of training to become an Alchemy of Breath Certified Practitioner.
The practices and self-awareness she learnt through Breathwork have helped support her through her late husband’s diagnosis with cancer in 2018, and living with grief since his passing in 2019. Karen is also a yoga teacher. If you have any questions please contact [email protected]
