This workshop will explore the way that EMDR therapy can be used to support individuals throughout the process of psychedlic assisted psychotheapy with a focus on the ability of EMDR to stabilise the nervous system. We will discuss the use of EMDR to treat sustained adverse reactions to psychedelics e.g. (c)PTSD or HPPD. The 4 points at with EMDR can be used to support PAP with be explained using case examples to illustrate.

This workshop will use case examples to conceptualise disorderded eating through an adaptive information processing (AIP) lens. Louise will explore treatment options with a intergative approach that utilises CBT interventions within the 8 phases of EMDR.

About the presenters

Hannah Raine-Smith is a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and author working in private practice. She has had a special interest in trauma and psychedelics since her early 20s. During her BSc in psychotherapeutic counselling, she began researching the potential use of psychedelics to facilitate the integration of trauma and went on to study postgraduate cognitive neuroscience in the Cardiff University Brain Imaging Centre in Wales. Here she discovered EMDR, realising it has many similarities to psychedelics, so went on to train under Derek Farrell on the EMDR MSc in the UK. Her clinical training in trauma integration, attachment and the adaptive information processing (AIP) model now inform her research into psychedelic-assisted EMDR. She has co-authered a book 'Psychedleic assisted EMDR- A memory consoldiation approach to psychedelic therapy' due. out with Routledge NY Early 2025.
