About this Event
This seminar is organised in association with PsyCen's Gender and Sexualities programme
In this seminar, Dr Bridger will introduce the psychogeographical approach and explain how it can be used as a qualitative psychological method to explore peoples’ gendered experiences of places and spaces. He will begin by explaining how he has extended the psychogeographical approach through the development of a feminist approach to study everyday social spaces and places as ‘gendered spaces’. Dr Bridger will also outline a participatory project that he was involved in with colleagues at the University of Huddersfield where they sought to make connections and involve people in this project that identified as LGBTQ+. He will then discuss the various forms of data collection and ‘outputs’ from this project including the drift and the artifacts produced from the project including DIY maps, poetry, sculpture, a public art exhibition and academic outputs. The presentation will conclude with reflections on next steps in this area of work and there will be time for questions and discussion.
