About this Event

The Centre for Applied Social Research (CeASR) in the School of Humanities and Social Science is hosting an afternoon Symposium event on 'Pr*son Modernisation and Abolitionist Perspectives'.

The symposium consists of:

Welcome and introductions from Dr Emily Luise Hart, Leeds Beckett University

A presentation by Dr Rob Jones, Dr Emily Luise Hart and Dr David Scott on their research into, and recently published article on Pr*son Modernisation and Pr*son expansion in England and Wales followed by a discussion and questions.

A Keynote talk from Professor Joe Sim entitled: Punishing the Destitute in 'Iron Times': State Authoritarianism, Modern Prisons and Abolitionism
