PRS Tarot Salon - What Binds a Fool Liberates the Wise: The Hermit as the Inviolable Spirit

In the PRS Bookstore!

Welcome to the PRS Tarot Salon! Each month we'll focus on a topic related to a specific card, a suit, court cards, etc. We'll begin with a short presentation and then open up for discussion. All levels are welcome- one of the best things about tarot is that we all bring our own unique insights and experiences to it. You'll also get 1-2 tarot spreads to take home to help you reflect on the topics discussed, deepen your practice, and hopefully bring more insights to the next salon!

We hope to build a community of mutual support and guidance through our love of this magical art; a place where we can remind ourselves of our inner wisdom at a time when the truth is being more and more obscured.

What Binds a Fool Liberates the Wise: The Hermit as the Inviolable Spirit

2025 is the year of The Hermit so it only felt right to start here. The Hermit, which is the Virgo card in tarot, raises so many themes consistent with our current moment: self sovereignty, discipline, rebellion, and trust in the Divine during the darkest of times. The Hermit is a seeker - the lantern lights their way, yet all they can see is the step right in front of them. They must learn how to trust in each moment- every step is a leap of faith.

We'll begin by discussing these and many other prescient themes that we can glean from The Hermit- where the conversation goes after that remains to be seen!

Presenter Bios:

Jenny Ruiz, a lifelong witch, was first drawn to tarot at the age of 8, and grew up reading for friends and family. The name Burning Times has been with her since the age of 19, and she chose it because it's a reminder that there will always be outside forces who are hostile to what we do; to femmes, to seekers, and to anyone considered Other. Though she has taken breaks from social media, she still does events and reads for private clients. One of her greatest joys in life is helping others connect to their own intuition and inner guidance.

Deborah Netburn has been turning to tarot for wisdom and guidance in her own life for over two decades. Largely self-taught, she is excited to gather and learn with other tarot enthusiasts in the LA area who share her love and reverence for the deep symbolic language of the cards.Deborah has had a lifelong fascination with humanity's rich variety of religious and spiritual practices and currently writes about faith, spirituality and joy for the Los Angeles Times.
