Protestation MOVES: Advocacy for Equity in the Dance Labor Industry is a free, experiential workshop exploring how labor inequities shape dancers’ career trajectories and professional sustainability—and how arts-based advocacy can shift perceptions.

The workshop is open to dancers, artists, lovers of the arts, and anyone in the community interested in equity, labor, and creative practice. Activities include participatory exercises on visibility, health and working conditions, and company pay structures, alongside a commissioned performance that centers on dancers’ lived experiences.

The program concludes with a panel and discussion featuring Dymond Davis, project dancers Leah Anthony and Macy Perry, and panelists Corey Baker (Columbus Dance Alliance) and Aysia Welch (Embody Dance & Performing Arts). Together, the workshop invites audiences to rethink how we value dance—as both art and labor deserving of equity, sustainability, and recognition.
