What To Expect

Celebrate and Engage: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Lancaster Farmland Trust

3,000 acres of Lancaster County farmland are lost to development each year. That’s more than eight acres every day. The fields and pastures which make up Lancaster County farms are a valuable natural resource. They provide us with more than corn and cows. Well-managed farmland protects our watersheds, recharge our groundwater, and control flooding while also improving air quality and providing food and cover for wildlife and livestock. Lancaster Farmland Trust is dedicated to helping farmers of all backgrounds preserve their farms and way of life for future generations.

Come add your thoughts to help answer the question – If we lose farmland, what more do we lose?

Lancaster Conservancy

The actions we take impact the health of our planet in both positive and negative ways. Come play Pollinator Plinko and Biodiversity Giant Jenga with the Lancaster Conservancy to learn how you can impact the overall health of Lancaster County!

RegenAll

Lancaster County is responsible for emitting approximately 10.5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent into the atmosphere. Let’s come together to lower our collective carbon footprint. Learn simple lifestyle changes you can make to personally drop a metric ton of carbon emissions this year. By dropping a ton of carbon, you will help improve the air quality of Lancaster County, lower temperatures, and improve climate patterns.

Pennsylvania Rural Water Association

Come play with an interactive Augmented Reality Sandbox that actively projects a topographical relief onto a surface of sand. Upon prompting, the augmented reality simulates flow of water over the topography. You’ll also learn about watersheds’ boundaries and their many facets such as geology, stream health, and the various land uses within Lancaster County.

Bird Friendly Coffee Bar

Is your coffee bird friendly? Since 1970, bird populations have declined by 29%, or almost 3 billion birds. Enjoy bird friendly coffee and learn how small changes, like the coffee you’re drinking, can help preserve forests that provide critical refuge for migratory and local birds.

AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps

The AmeriCorps NCCC is a full-time, team-based residential service program for 18-26 year-olds who are assigned to one of four regional campuses. Teams complete a variety of service projects, which are generally 3 to 13 weeks in duration, and respond to local communities’ needs throughout the United States and territories. The City of Lancaster will be hosting an AmeriCorps Team this Fall and look forward to sharing their experience with you and answering questions about how AmeriCorps NCCC can support Lancaster County
