About this Event
Did you know that many of Ontario's rivers and lakes flow in the direction of Hudson's Bay?
Join us for an Ocean Week Canada 2024 event hosted by Legal Advocates for Nature's Defence (LAND) to:
- learn about legal tools which exist to protect the lands and waters of the Arctic watershed here in Ontario
- hear stories of hope and resilience from the Friends of the Attawapiskat River, whose Indigenous knowledge and leadership play a critical role in marine protection and conservation
Legal Advocates for Nature’s Defence (LAND) is an environmental law non-profit based in Northern Ontario dedicated to protecting nature and upholding Treaty rights through legal advocacy and support.
Ocean Week Canada is a public celebration of the ocean from coast to coast to coast. This event is just one of many events and activities coordinated by The Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition taking place across the country during the week of World Ocean Day (June 8th).
Building connections and catalyzing action for the ocean & climate: Big coastline. Big water. Big responsibility.
This is a free public event. You can attend in-person at the location above or virtually via zoom.
