About this Event
Scientists estimate that 11 million metric tons of plastic enters our ocean every year on top of the estimated 200 million metric tons that currently circulate through our marine environments. These plastics not only threaten marine life but can also impact us. With 50% of our oxygen coming from the ocean, whether you live on the coast or hundreds of miles inland, the future of your favorite game, concert or event depends on a healthy, plastic-free ocean. Join Team Ocean and help us preserve and protect our ocean, and all the spaces we come together!
The Protect Where We Play Cleanup in Long Beach will be on Tuesday, November 18th from 9:30am – 12:00pm. Join Ocean Conservancy, USA Artistic Swimming National Team, LA28, US Olympians and Paralympians Association, and USA Artistic Swimming partners at Alamitos Beach to remove debris from the beach before it reaches the ocean. Light breakfast, coffee and all supplies will be provided, including sunscreen and bug spray. We recommend all volunteers wear closed-toe shoes!
Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt (while supplies last).

Don’t forget the Data! The information collected about the trash removed is incredibly valuable for finding long term solutions for trash free seas. Be a part of the solution: download our Clean Swell app before the cleanup to keep track of the trash you collect! Enter PWWP in the 'Group Name' field to track your impact.
Register for this free event on this page! A waiver will be required for all participants on the day of the event. Community service hours are also provided upon request.
Parking fees in the Alamitos Beach Lot will be waived for all volunteers.
