In partnership with Shrivenham FC, we're pleased to bring to you a summer football tournament at the Ian Richardson Memorial Ground on Saturday 3rd August 2024 - as a fundraising event for the Prospect Hospice.Prospect Hospice is a charity, funded primarily by our local community to provide excellent, personalised and compassionate care for everyone in our community who is affected by life-limiting illness - completely free of charge.
Each year it costs several million pounds to provide the care that their patients and families depend on. Only a quarter of their funding comes from statutory organisations like the NHS, so the remaining funds are raised themselves.
We chose Shrivenham FC as our host for many reasons, most notably to honour those personally impacted by the work of Prospect Hospice:
Beth Jewell - wife of David Jewell and mother to Elliot & Frankie (Dave - Shrivenham & Watchfield Royals Vice Chairman, Elliot & Frankie - youth players) who sadly lost her 4 and a half year battle with ovarian cancer last September. This tournament will celebrate close to her first year anniversary.
Rebecca Rowland - mother of Kristy Rowland and Kala Rowland (Family connections to Shrivenham FC through Danny Day & Elliott Day - current Shrivenham FC Development Head Coach) who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer following a period of intense chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This tournament will celebrate her 10-year anniversary.
To show your support, tournament entry will be available to anyone over the age of 18, inclusive to men and women with no upper age limit. This is inclusive to participants of any ability, sex, gender, race, disability etc.
Teams will be made up of 6 players per team (5 aside with one rolling substitute), catering for 10 male teams and 10 females teams - competing in two separate, parallel tournaments. Cost per player will be £10. 100% of entry fees will be donated to The Prospect Hospice charity.
