At this FREE event:
Apply for all Property Tax exemptions for which your house hold is eligible
Speak to the City Assessor if your home's Estimated Market Value seems too high
Correct errors in the Dept. of Finance's records in your property's description
Learn your options if you've fallen behind with your mortgage or are facing foreclosure
Speak with a counselor if you're considering a reverse mortgage or refinancing your home
Representatives from Dept. of Finance and housing nonprofit NHS Brooklyn will be available to help you. Bring these documents for ALL owners:
- Government-issued photo ID
- 2023 Income tax return OR 2023 Social Security & pension 1099 forms
- SSA Disability Notice of Award Letter or other proof of disability (if applicable)
- Proof of military service: Form DD-214, etc. (if applicable)
- Recent monthly mortgage statement (if applicable and you would like mortgage counseling)
- Trust or Life Estate documents (if applicable)
- Death Certificate (if applicable)
- All owners must be present to sign the application and submit it at the event
