With post film discussion hosted by Vincenzo Selleri, professor at Farmingdale State College
Money is the root of all evil in the third film in a loose trilogy that also includes Elio Petri’s Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion and The Working Class Goes to Heaven. This barbed satire concerns a bank clerk (Flavio Bucci), who after being denied a loan by his employer, launches a campaign of harassment against a wealthy butcher (Ugo Tognazzi). Quitting his job, he devotes all of his time to tormenting the butcher, stealing his possessions one-by-one—including his mistress (Daria Nicolodi).
